If you smell gas, immediately extinguish all smoking materials and any open flames. In addition, do not use any lights, telephones, appliances or cell phones as sparks or flames from these devices might cause an explosion or fire. If you smell propane that you think might be leaking, immediately leave the area and evacuate the area or building where you suspect that gas might be leaking.
Once you've left the area, you should try to shut off the main gas supply valve on your propane tank. Immediately report the leak from a neighbor's home or other location by calling Foust Fuels. If you can't reach your propane retailer, call 911 or your local the fire department immediately. Above all, do not return to the building until your propane retailer or the local fire department has determined that it is ok to do so.
Finally, you should always have a qualified service technician from your local propane retailer perform a complete propane system check and any of your propane appliances to make sure they remain free of leaks before you attempt to use any of them.
